An eight-month-pregnant 17-year-old girl from Arizona lost her life after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound during her visit to San Diego, California. The devastating incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 30, at approximately 1:10 a.m., on the 4900 block of Gardena Avenue.
Law enforcement officers arrived swiftly at the scene, discovering the young victim unresponsive with a severe head wound. Immediate life-saving procedures were initiated for both the mother and her unborn child.
Upon arrival, first responders acted rapidly, and paramedics transported the critically injured teenager to a nearby medical facility. Given her advanced pregnancy of approximately 32 weeks, physicians performed an emergency cesarean section to save the infant.
According to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), the teenager had traveled to San Diego with her family and was staying at a short-term rental property. Her boyfriend had journeyed to the city separately and met her outside the rental — where the shooting allegedly took place.
The victim’s identity has not been publicly disclosed at this time.
