Investigation Launched After Brutal Barn Attack

Authorities in Las Vegas have arrested a teenage suspect following a disturbing incident at the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show, where multiple horses were allegedly attacked and seriously injured.

According to police reports, three horses were discovered with intentional injuries caused by a sharp object inside a barn at the competition venue. The incident has since triggered a full-scale investigation involving law enforcement and event organizers.

Victim Statement: Horse Owner Describes Emotional Trauma

The owner of one of the injured horses, who chose to remain anonymous, described the incident as deeply heartbreaking.

She shared that her horse, “Detail,” holds significant emotional value in her life, referring to the animal as her closest companion and expressing distress over seeing it injured and in pain.

The owner also revealed that the suspect had previously interacted with her through social media and had made repeated attempts to meet both her and her horse during previous NBHA events.

Prior Contact Allegations Before the Incident

According to the horse owner, the teenager followed her online and had made comments about meeting her at last year’s NBHA Super Show.

She further stated that the suspect was present at the same warm-up area during the current event, where a brief interaction reportedly took place just one day before the attack. During that encounter, the suspect allegedly commented on the horse’s physical markings.

Additional Witness Account

A 17-year-old competitor, Cali Raymer, also confirmed that she had spoken with the suspect on a few occasions prior to the incident.

She expressed shock and concern over the situation, stating that it was alarming to witness such violence in what is normally considered a safe competitive environment.

Law Enforcement Findings and Charges

Police stated that the suspect allegedly had access to the barn area and used a knife to inflict injuries on the horses.

The teenager has been taken into custody and is facing multiple serious charges, including several counts related to willful and malicious animal cruelty, as well as felony charges for intentional destruction of property exceeding $5,000.

Condition of the Horses and Competition Impact

Although the injuries sustained by the horses were not life-threatening, they were severe enough to prevent the animals from participating in future competitions, including the 2026 NBHA event at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center.

The emotional and financial impact on competitors has been significant, with many expressing concern over safety at equestrian events.

NBHA Official Response

The National Barrel Horse Association confirmed that the suspect was also believed to be a participant in the competition.

The organization stated that immediate action was taken in coordination with event security, Metro Police, and other authorities to control the situation.

Officials further confirmed that the suspect was removed from the venue and placed into law enforcement custody, adding that there is no ongoing threat to participants or animals.
