Overview of the Nassau Cruise Port Incident

Five American cruise ship passengers were taken into custody in the Bahamas following a reported physical confrontation that escalated into a violent disturbance involving both civilians and law enforcement officers.

The incident took place at the Nassau Cruise Port on Monday, June 8, and later led to multiple charges and injuries.

Initial Altercation at Cruise Terminal

According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers were first called to the scene at approximately 4:45 p.m. local time after reports of a physical fight involving several cruise passengers.

The group involved included:

  • Three women
  • Two men

All five individuals are U.S. nationals traveling via cruise ship.

Following the initial disturbance, authorities detained the individuals and transported them to a local police station for further processing.

Escalation Inside Police Custody

Police reported that the situation worsened after the suspects arrived at the station. During routine procedures, officers attempted to conduct searches when a second violent confrontation allegedly broke out.

According to official statements:

  • One female suspect allegedly threw a chair, breaking a glass door
  • A male suspect attempted to escape after damaging property
  • Officers intervened and restrained the individuals with additional support units

The confrontation resulted in damage to police property and injuries to multiple officers.

Injuries Reported

Authorities confirmed that several officers were injured during the incident:

  • Two officers suffered bodily impact injuries
  • One officer sustained a mouth laceration
  • One officer suffered a serious shoulder injury and required hospital treatment

Medical assistance was also provided to the detained passengers for minor injuries sustained during the earlier port altercation.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

The five U.S. passengers remain in custody and are under investigation for multiple offenses, including:

  • Fighting in a public place
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assaulting police officers
  • Malicious damage
  • Disorderly conduct within a police station

Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected.
