Veteran Actor Dies After Violent Incident Outside California Residence

Veteran Hollywood actor James Handy, widely recognized for his appearances in Top Gun: Maverick and Jumanji, has died after suffering a fatal stabbing outside his home in Tarzana, California. Authorities have accused the son of Handy’s longtime romantic partner of carrying out the attack.

According to investigators, emergency responders were dispatched to the actor’s residence on the morning of June 3 after receiving a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they discovered Handy critically injured with a chest wound in the front yard of the property. Despite being rushed to a nearby medical facility, the 81-year-old actor later succumbed to his injuries.

Murder Suspect Identified by Authorities

Law enforcement officials have identified the suspect as 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who has been arrested and formally charged with one count of murder.

Investigators say Gledhill himself contacted emergency services and reported the incident. During the call, he allegedly made a disturbing statement claiming responsibility for the killing.

Authorities further allege that Gledhill resided at the property with his mother, who had been involved in a romantic relationship with Handy.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers reported that the suspect approached them and indicated that he was the individual they were searching for. He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

Bond Set at $2 Million

Following his arrest, Gledhill was booked into custody and remains jailed on a bond amount set at $2 million. Court proceedings are expected to continue as detectives gather additional evidence related to the case.

At this stage, investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive behind the deadly attack.

Neighbors Reported Arguments Before the Incident

Several residents living near the property told local media outlets that they allegedly heard heated arguments coming from the residence during the night preceding the fatal stabbing.

One neighbor reportedly claimed that the suspect appeared to struggle with delusional behavior. Doorbell camera footage obtained by local television stations allegedly showed Gledhill walking calmly outside the home before police officers arrived.
