According to the Toledo Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:37 p.m. local time on June 6 after reports of a shooting near the Old West End Festival area, located around Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue.
When authorities arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services quickly transported several injured individuals to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
Officials confirmed that 12 people were shot in the incident. Two of the victims remain in critical condition.
Reports indicate that the victims’ ages range from 14 to 61 years old, with the majority believed to be in their early twenties.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, are assisting in the investigation.
Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan stated during a press briefing that authorities believe two shooters may have been involved, and that the gunmen were likely firing at each other. No arrests have been made so far, and the suspects remain at large.
