Authorities in Washington have charged a Tacoma man with murder after investigators alleged he attempted to disguise his girlfriend’s disappearance by sending deceptive text messages to her relatives and close friends while pretending to be her.

Arrest and Criminal Charges

On May 21, law enforcement officials arrested 30-year-old Kendrick Deshaun Bruce in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of his girlfriend, Tomorrow Dawn Dill-Pickett.

According to court documents, Bruce now faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder, unlawful disposal of human remains, and two counts of second-degree identity theft.

Investigators believe Dill-Pickett was killed sometime between March 1 and March 28 in Tacoma, Washington.

Family Became Suspicious Over Strange Messages

Concern first escalated when one of Dill-Pickett’s friends in Idaho reported her missing on April 1 after failing to hear from her beyond a social media exchange on March 23.

As friends compared text messages allegedly sent from Dill-Pickett’s phone, several noticed unusual writing patterns and behavior inconsistent with her normal communication style.

Her father later informed authorities that she abruptly stopped speaking with him over phone calls and would communicate only through delayed text responses. He reportedly became increasingly suspicious after receiving messages that seemed unnatural and emotionally distant.

Friends also stated that she repeatedly declined FaceTime and voice calls throughout March, which they considered extremely abnormal.

Investigation Into the Disappearance

When homicide detectives first visited Dill-Pickett’s apartment on April 2, the residence appeared mostly undisturbed. However, neighbors reported not seeing her for nearly a month.

Investigators later discovered that the apartment locks had been changed without authorization, prompting further concern.

Her vehicle remained parked outside the residence, while personal belongings inside the apartment appeared untouched, creating additional suspicion surrounding her sudden disappearance.

Abuse Allegations and Prior Threats

Bryant Smith, the father of Dill-Pickett’s son, allegedly informed detectives that she had repeatedly expressed fear of Bruce before her disappearance.

According to investigative documents, she allegedly warned him several times by saying, “If anything happens to me, Kendrick did it.”

Smith further claimed she frequently displayed visible injuries that she attributed to Bruce and had previously shared photographs of bruises and marks with friends.

Authorities also learned that Dill-Pickett had accused Bruce of physical abuse during conversations with family members in late 2025.

She allegedly told others that Bruce threatened her by claiming nobody would ever discover her body.

Suspicious Behavior Following Her Disappearance

The mother of Bruce’s child reportedly told investigators that Bruce arrived at her residence around March 5 or 6 behaving unusually nervous and withdrawn.

She allegedly noticed that his vehicle — normally unclean — appeared freshly detailed and was immediately parked inside the garage.

According to investigators, Bruce rarely left the home afterward, avoided answering the door, and allegedly asked her to lie if police questioned her.

She also claimed Bruce later traveled to Oregon and discussed obtaining a new cellphone and number because Oregon does not charge sales tax.

Digital Evidence and Disturbing Internet Searches

During the investigation, detectives obtained search warrants for Bruce’s phone records, GPS data, vehicle information, and online activity.

Authorities later discovered alarming Google searches allegedly conducted from Bruce’s account between March 5 and March 7.

The searches reportedly included phrases related to unconsciousness, body decomposition, cleaning blood from carpets, and other disturbing topics connected to death and crime scene cleanup.

Forensic Findings and Arrest

On May 15, cadaver dogs inspected Bruce’s vehicle and reportedly alerted investigators to multiple areas inside the car, including the rear cargo space and back seating area.

A later forensic examination of Bruce’s home allegedly uncovered blood evidence in several rooms, including the living room, bathroom, hallway, bedrooms, and bathtub.

Bruce was officially arrested the following day and remains in custody on a $2 million bond.

He is expected to appear in court on June 10.

Victim’s Body Still Missing

Despite the extensive investigation, prosecutors confirmed that Dill-Pickett’s body has not yet been recovered.

Her family continues searching for answers while hoping authorities can eventually locate her remains and provide closure to loved ones.
