California, USA — Case Overview

A California man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after being convicted in connection with the 2020 death of his 8-month-old daughter.

Accused and Identification

The convicted individual, Jesse Manuel Figueroa, was responsible for caring for his infant daughter at the time of the incident.

Incident Details

According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, Figueroa inflicted severe physical harm on his baby daughter while she was under his supervision. He later attempted to mislead investigators by claiming the child had suddenly become unconscious during a family outing.

Medical Findings

Medical examination revealed that the infant suffered catastrophic head trauma. Authorities stated that the force of the injury was so severe that it caused significant brain displacement.

Doctors also noted a distinctive bruise on the child’s face consistent with the shape of an adult hand.

Additional Abuse Allegations

Investigators further found evidence that the accused had also abused two other young children, aged 2 and 3 at the time, forcing them into degrading punishment practices.

Officials also confirmed that he was already under a restraining order restricting unsupervised contact with the infant.

Court Verdict

After being found guilty of murder in 2026, Figueroa was sentenced on May 29 to 25 years to life in state prison.

Official Statement

The District Attorney’s Office described the case as deeply tragic, emphasizing the irreversible loss of an innocent child and the importance of ensuring public safety.

Public Advisory

Authorities urge anyone who suspects child abuse to immediately contact child protection services or national hotlines for confidential assistance.
