Police Investigate Fatal Family Violence Incident

A 16-year-old boy has been taken into police custody after a tragic incident at a family home in Bentley, Perth, where his 35-year-old mother was found dead and his 12-year-old sister sustained life-threatening injuries in what investigators believe was a stabbing.

Authorities have launched a major investigation, treating the case as a suspected family violence incident.

Emergency Response at Bentley Home

Police officers were dispatched to a residence in Bentley at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the 35-year-old woman deceased inside the property. Investigators believe both victims suffered their injuries at the residence before the young girl managed to escape.

A crime scene was immediately established as forensic specialists began examining the property for evidence.

CCTV Captures Girl Fleeing for Help

Security footage recorded less than 15 minutes before police arrived showed the injured 12-year-old girl running along Albany Highway, reportedly wearing what appeared to be her dressing gown.

After traveling roughly 600 meters into the nearby suburb of Cannington, she contacted Australia’s emergency service, Triple Zero (000), seeking urgent assistance.

Members of the public stopped to help the child before emergency medical teams arrived and provided life-saving treatment.

Victim Remains in Serious Condition

Paramedics treated the girl at the scene before transporting her to Perth Children’s Hospital, where she remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police confirmed that both victims suffered wounds consistent with a stabbing.

Investigators continue to monitor the girl’s condition while medical staff provide ongoing treatment.

Teenager Taken Into Custody

A 16-year-old male, who is related to both victims, was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in police custody while detectives continue their investigation.

Authorities said the teenager is cooperating with investigators. At this stage, no criminal charges have been filed.

Police also confirmed that the boy had previous interactions with law enforcement, although no further details have been released.

Due to the disturbing circumstances encountered at the scene, counseling services have been offered to first responders who attended the incident.
